The second-year tailback from Winnipegs Sturgeon Heights Collegiate made his season debut in Sundays 43-36 home opening win over the Edmonton Huskies. Lafrance would set a Rifles all-time single game rushing record, motoring for 291 yards on 24 carries and scoring 3 touchdowns, thanks to dashes of 66, 1 & 68 yards respectively. Unofficially, the 291-yard performance is the 8th best single game total in conference history.
DEFENSE-MARK INGRAM, Regina Thunder

The Regina Thunder recorded a resounding 59-10 rout of the Calgary Colts on Sunday afternoon at Mosaic Stadium and the 4th-year Defensive Back who calls Imperial, Saskatchewan home had a monster of a game. Ingram had 4 tackles and assisted on another. He would recover a fumble & pick off 2 Calgary passes for a total of 41 yards. One was returned for a touchdown. He totalled up 21 defensive points in the win.
SPECIAL TEAMS- KIT HILLIS, Saskatoon Hilltops

Hillis picked up his second punt return major in as many weeks as the Hilltops downed the Edmonton Wildcats 27-13 on Sunday afternoon at Clarke Park. The 3rd-year returner/receiver returned a first quarter punt 68 yards in the win. The 1st return TD came in a Week 1 win over the Winnipeg Rifles, that one was a 54-yard run back. Hillis hails from Saskatoon.
On Sunday the Regina Thunder played their home opener against the Calgary Colts. A game that was billed as the Thunders high powered offence against the Colts tough defence. And although Reginas offence did flex its muscles, it was the Thunder defence that set the tone early.
On the third play after the opening kickoff, the defence stuffed the Colts offence on a third down gamble on their own 43 yard line. It was one of 7 turnovers on the day for the Thunder, which led to the first touchdown for Regina and they never looked back.
The Thunder starting defence only allowed 2 point on the afternoon and managed to contribute a touchdown themselves. They were led by safety Mark Ingram who had 2 interceptions, 1 for a touchdown. As well as a fumble recovery which the offence turned into a major on the very next play. Ingram finished with 21 defensive points followed closely by Philmon Bairu who had 19. Reginas defence seems to play with a pack mentality, with every player on the field contributing.
Reginas offence was again firing on all cylinders, and when a team puts up 59 points the offence is usually the first thing that comes to mind. But on this day it was the defence that got things going, and put the Thunder in great position all afternoon.
The Thunder now go into their bye week and will prepare for a home and home battle with the always strong Saskatoon Hilltops beginning Saturday Sept. 11/10 7:00 pm at Mosaic Stadium.

Thunder no longer an underdog
By Ian Hamilton, The Leader-Post August 30, 2010
Erwin Klempner is OK with being in the crosshairs.
The Regina Thunder's head coach said so Sunday after his team's 59-10 PFC victory over the Calgary Colts at Mosaic Stadium, an outcome which Klempner said will result in other teams putting a target on the Thunder's collective back. Read More
