It was a season like no other. The first ever Regina Thunder undefeated season has been completed and the reward is a bye in the first round of the PFC playoffs.
The Thunder finished off the season with a 35-16 home victory this past Sunday against the Calgary Colts. The score actually flattered the Colts as the Thunder starters played just the first half. Several back-ups and some of the young Thunder players got significant playing time this cold and windy day at Leibel Field. This could prove important as the Thunder will begin their playoff run at home Sunday November 7th. They will be the home team throughout the PFC playoffs.
“It’s so nice to pull out a win for the entire organization, our alumni, as well as for the team,” stated Head Coach Scott MacAulay. “We played a lot of different players in this game. Calgary put them in some different situations and everyone was able to rise to the occasion.”
The team will break until Wednesday and then hit the field to prepare for perhaps the biggest playoff in Thunder history. Their first playoff sitting as the top ranked team in Canada. Its been a great season but now every play, every penalty and every decision will be magnified on the big stage. The team is healthy, confident and knows that they want more then an 8-0 record. They also know there will be no easy opponents form here on in. Buckle up everyone, it’s playoff time!!!
